Z Stone wall cladding supplied by Lagan Building Solutions has been used on a £4m purpose-built health centre designed by Cardiff-based Prichard Barnes Architects.
The JEHU Group undertook the construction of the 1373 square metre site on behalf of developer Apollo Capital Projects. The Tŷ Calon Lān Primary Care Health Centre in Mountain Ash has become home to the Meddygfa Glan Cynon Surgery, which will deliver services to over 11,000 patients in the area.
320m² of Black Slate Z Stone and 126 linear metres of corner pieces were supplied through LBS Builders Merchants in Aberdare in order to complete the façade. The natural slate stone wall cladding was selected to clad the lower levels of the building due to its robustness.
“Prichard Barnes Architects specified Black Slate Z-Stone by Lagan Building Solutions Ltd. on our Tŷ Calon Lān scheme in Mountain Ash; as we had previously and successfully specified it on a bespoke house in St. Nicholas and it had brilliantly complemented the burnt Shou-Sugi-Ban cladding above, which was also used once again on this project. We endeavour to specify natural and low embodied carbon materials wherever possible and using a stone product with a more slender profile than load-bearing stone that also has the additional benefit of being easy to install fits that requirement. We have found Lagan Building Solutions to be extremely helpful - they provide timely and useful technical advice where needed. The Z Stone was installed on Tŷ Calon Lān without a hitch.”
Z Stone is an innovative stone cladding system available exclusively from Lagan Building Solutions. It consists of Z-shaped panels that simply slot together to create a natural stone wall effect. It is available in a wide range of striking colours which suit both traditional and contemporary builds alike.
